YWAM Lilongwe currently offer a few University of the Nations accredited Schools. Though we aim at running these schools annually, the dates are to be announced. We also facilitate workshops and other training events.
Discipleship Training Schools
Our YWAM-DTS’s are aimed at equipping committed Christians who have a passion for reaching the lost with the love of God and discipling those who are already saved. The Discipleship Training School seeks to bring you into a more intimate relationship with God. It also gives you an opportunity to discover your passions and your part in God’s purposes for the world. It is for those who long to follow Jesus in new ways with a different perspective.
The course is a full-time program and lasts close to six months. It consists of two parts: lecture phase and outreach phase. In the lecture phase, you will learn more about God and His world. You’ll learn not only from lectures but also from community living and practical training. The outreach phase focuses on applying what you learned in the classroom through an intense, cross-cultural experience.
School of Communication Foundations
The School of Communication Foundation purposes to lay essential foundations in biblical communication, while advancing the individual’s skill and confidence in speaking, writing, and listening. It aims to sharpen the student’s ability to communicate clearly through cross cultural and interpersonal dynamics, as well as to understand the principles of preparing and delivering a message to a variety of audiences. Through provoking instruction, discussion, practical assignments, and video evaluation, students learn to discover their place and potential as effective influencers in the public forum. This course is a principle stepping stone for further UofN coursework
Missionary Care Foundations Course
In the course we explore the support systems that God intends for our missionaries and teams so that they remain healthy and resilient. We also help develop specific skills that leaders or member care workers can use to more effectively care for their staff. This course is ideal for leaders of any level who want to strengthen the care of their missionaries, for those who are a part of a member care team, or for those who want to form a member care team for their location.
DTS Staff Training Course
A three week DTS Staff training course aims to equip new YWAM-DTS staff in areas where there is a need. It usually runs prior to the Discipleship Training School.
Other Training Oppertunities
During the year we also offer short courses, workshops and seminars that cover different areas such as mission attrition, spiritual growth, anthropology and cross-cultural communications. Worldview, Evangelism Training, God’s answers to HIV/Aids, Testing of your faith, Theophostic prayer ministry and more. More information available upon request.
